Measles is a highly infectious viral illness and can be serious.

If you come to hospital and think you may have measles, please tell a member of staff immediately, and they will ensure you are assessed.

Symptoms to look out for:

  • Aching and feeling unwell
  • fever
  • Rash –
  • Sore, red eyes
  • Cough
  • Runny nose

Visitors

Please don't visit patients in our hospitals if you have symptoms of measles or if you have tested positive for measles.

Protect yourself and your loved ones

Measles is spreading because of low vaccination rates. Please make sure that you and any children you are responsible for have been vaccinated. It is never too late to catch up. The MMR vaccine is available on the NHS if you are eligible. Find out more.
