HTD & NaTHNaC travel medicine course for infection trainees
An online course developed jointly by HTD and NaTHNaC for infection trainees across the UK. Endorsed by the JRCPTB, it covers all travel medicine curriculum requirements for Combined Infection Training and can contribute towards competency sign-off for PYA. The course may be undertaken at any stage of training and is usually eligible for study leave.
The course runs twice a year, in March and September, over four consecutive Wednesdays and is delivered through interactive lectures, case-based discussions, online learning modules, recorded travel medicine consultations, small-group tutorials and self-directed learning.

HTD's clinical lead Dr Nicky Longley organises the renowned 5-day face-to-face Travel Medicine Course, held each November in London and taught by internationally recognised experts from LSHTM, the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, NaTHNaC and other leading institutions. Designed for doctors, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals, the course provides a practical, evidence-based update on modern travel medicine, covering topics such as malaria, travel vaccines, dengue, expedition health, the immunocompromised traveller, migration, climate change and emerging infectious diseases. Through interactive workshops, case discussions, role-play consultations and expert-led teaching, participants will gain the knowledge, confidence and critical thinking skills needed to deliver high-quality travel health advice in an increasingly complex global travel environment. The course is approved for 30 CPD credits, and attendees receive a Certificate of Attendance.
