The service aims to reduce admissions by delivering the right care in the right place, improving patient care and experience.
The ambulatory service currently provides daily slots for clinical reviews on the ward for patients who do not need to be in hospital but need closer monitoring.
The ambulatory service also includes the rapid referral clinic service, delivered daily in children’s outpatients. The rapid referral clinic service offers outpatient appointments to those children and young people in our local boroughs who need to be reviewed urgently, and are triaged based upon clinical need.
- Those ambulating on intravenous antibiotics
- Ward reviews for those well enough to go home but requiring rapid or regular review
- MRI requiring sedation/general anaesthesia
- Day attendances for coordination of MDT input and/or investigations
