Professional background
Dr Elouise Donaldson is a Consultant Neuroanaesthetist working at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Dr Donaldson completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of St Andrews and the University of Edinburgh. She was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc Hons First Class) in Medicine at the University of St Andrews in 2010 followed by the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Edinburgh in 2013.
Prior to commencing her specialty Anaesthetics training, Dr Donaldson completed a 6-month Junior Clinical Fellow post in Neurocritical Care at St George’s Hospital London (2016). She successfully completed her Anaesthetics training within the South West London and North West London (Imperial School of Anaesthesia) deaneries (2025). This included 12 months special interest training in Neuroanaesthesia at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (2024-2025). Following this, Dr Donaldson was appointed a Consultant at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (2026).
Dr Donaldson has expertise in anaesthesia for complex cranial and spinal neurosurgery as well as for interventional neuroradiology procedures both in the elective and emergency setting.
In addition, Dr Donaldson also has multiple academic interests and was awarded a position on the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology Editorial Board Fellowship Programme in January 2026.
