Having_CT_Scan_EasyRead_1.png A CT scan is a special type of X‑ray. It takes clear pictures of the inside of your body. These pictures help doctors see problems more easily than with a normal X‑ray.

Having_CT_Scan_EasyRead_3.png A CT scan helps doctors find out what is wrong inside your body. It can show problems with tissues and organs.

Having_CT_Scan_EasyRead_15.png You will be asked to consent to the scan. This means you understand what will happen and agree to it.
Having_CT_Scan_EasyRead_16.png During the scan, you might need to drink water or have an injection of dye.
Having_CT_Scan_EasyRead_17.png You will lie on a bed and move through the scanner. You might be asked to hold your breath for a few seconds.
Having_CT_Scan_EasyRead_18.png After the scan, you can leave straight away. If you had dye, you might need to stay for a short time.
Having_CT_Scan_EasyRead_16.png Drink plenty of water after the scan if you had dye. This helps your body get rid of the dye.
